Let’s be honest, you make mistakes, we all make mistakes. The Bible calls these mistakes sins. So now God has a problem of sorts. He loves you, but it’s impossible for Him to be near your sin. Truth be told, you wouldn’t even be able to enjoy God’s company until you get this sin thing resolved.
The Bible tells the wonderful story of the God who is real, and who loves us very much. He loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to save us.
Jesus Christ – God’s only Son – came down from Heaven to change the world. He lived a perfect life. He was arrested. He was tortured. He was crucified. For us.
But the story doesn’t end there. He rose from the dead. This man Jesus, who was also God, was buried in a sealed tomb and then . . .He walked out of it. Because He could. Because He loves you.
This changed everything. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross allowed things to be fixed between you and God. All you have to do is accept it. It’s simple to do, just pray something like this…
Dear God, Thank you for Who You are. I understand that I am a sinner and that I need forgiveness. I believe that You sent Your Son Jesus to die on a cross for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and begin to teach me what it means to live as Your child. Thank You for this free gift that You have given me through Your Son. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you just prayed this for the first time, we would love to hear from you and help you get started in your new relationship with God.
Who Should Be Baptized
At First Baptist, we believe that baptism by immersion is an important first step of obedience after making a personal commitment to Christ. Baptism allows a Christ-follower to communicate to those around them that they have made that commitment. If you have made a personal commitment to Christ then announcing that decision publicly through baptism is the next step for you. If you would like to know more about scheduling your baptism, contact us here.
At First Baptist Church (FBC), we believe that membership is an expression of our commitment to one another and to the vision and purpose of FBC. It’s about joining a family that is united in our beliefs and purpose of drawing life from God and pointing others to him.
At FBC, we believe that church membership is important for a couple of reasons:
1. A commitment to a local church body is biblical and was the normal practice of the early New Testament church.
2. Church membership provides us with a place to use our spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians12, Romans 12, Ephesians 4), it gives us a spiritual community to support our growth as Christ followers (Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 5:21, Hebrews 10:24-25), it places us under the spiritual protection of church leaders (Hebrews 13:17, Acts 20:28) and it communicates to other church members that we are committed to one another.
The starting point for the membership process here at FBC begins with our Discover Class. During the class we talk about what it means to be a member at FBC, give you some tools to help you in your spiritual journey and explain the details of the membership process. If you are interested in being a part of our next Discover Class, then please contact us here.
